The Costain Skanska Joint Venture (CSjv) is marking a significant milestone. The joint venture has been on the HS2 Enabling Works Programme since 2016, and at the end of 2020, had employed over 200 previously unemployed people and reached over 11,000 young people in schools.
CSjv is a founding partner of the HS2 Empowering Communities initiative, a ten-year social legacy programme for the construction of HS2 in London to deliver long-lasting benefits for local people. An industry-first, the programme has a number of partners all working to support this aim, including Costain, Skanska, HS2, STRABAG, Arup, Mace Dragados, and Network Rail.
By developing strong partnerships with key organisations such as Buses for Homeless, Bounce Back, C4WS, New Horizon Youth Centre, Women into Construction and St Mungo’s, CSjv has been able to fully understand the needs of the community and work to find solutions to support these needs.
