We spoke to Degree Apprentice Ethan Madina

Can you describe your role in a few words?
I am a Project Management Degree Apprentice currently working as a project planner within the project controls team at AtkinsRéalis.

What were you doing prior to your Apprenticeship?
I was at college studying a Level 3 advanced manufacturing engineering course. Prior to this I was completing my GCSEs

What was your perception of the infrastructure sector before you started your apprenticeship?
My perception was minimal really, and I had only heard about HS2 works within my local area.

What interested you in joining AtkinsRéalis?
I was interested in joining AtkinsRéalis because I could see the career progression that the company offered, with a clear pathway to advance my career within the industry, and how the company could help me to achieve this.

What are the key things you’ve learnt so far in your job?
Not only have I learnt a range of technical skills, my job has allowed me to develop the necessary soft skills required to be a good project manager.

What is the most exciting part of your role?
Watching projects that I have worked on and completed hit the commissioning stage and enter construction.

What would you like to do after completing your apprenticeship?
Continue work as a project manager and gain chartership.
