We spoke to Mark Dean, L3 Apprentice Transport Planning Technician at Arup
Can you describe your role in a few words?
I am an apprentice in Transport Consulting London, I work between the Cities and Rail disciplines.
What were you doing prior to your Apprenticeship?
Retail
What was your perception of the sector before you started your apprenticeship?
I felt it was a sector that provided an opportunity to make a different to sustainable transportation.
What interested you in joining Arup?
Arup have a good reputation in working on sustainable projects in an ethical manner.
What are the key things you’ve learnt so far in your job?
Getting direct insights from people in the industry who have been involved in key projects.
What is the most exciting part of your role?
I find a lot my role exciting whether it is directly related to my interest in rail, or just working a new environment.
What would you like to do after completing your apprenticeship?
As I am a permanent employee at Arup, I intend on remaining with the company and either working at one of their offices abroad or enrolling on the Level 6 Transport Planning Apprenticeship.
