The Government has launched the Year of Engineering campaign which will take place throughout 2018. This joint initiative between Government and industry aims to help young people gain experience in engineering, tackle the skills gap in the industry as well as increasing diversity in engineering.
High Speed Rail Industry Leaders will be supporting the campaign, and encourage organisations to become partners and support the initiative. P The work of the campaign over the year is expected to include a range of school visits, exhibitions and open door events to promote the sector. Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has commented on the campaign, stating that “This Year of Engineering is our commitment to transforming perceptions of engineering among young people, their parents and their teachers.” Business Secretary Greg Clarke has also made a statement, stating that the “industrial strategy is committed to helping people and businesses by boosting engineering.
